TheAdvisoryLetter.org is an independent watchdog publication documenting the accountability practices of Arizona's medical regulatory boards — the Arizona Medical Board (AMB), the Arizona State Board of Nursing (AZBN), the Arizona Board of Osteopathic Examiners (AZBO), and the Arizona Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants (ARBPA).
Arizona's medical regulatory boards present themselves as guardians of public safety. In practice, whether through structural conflicts of interest, professional bias, or misaligned incentives, they frequently function as protectors of the practitioners they license rather than the patients they are charged to serve.
This publication exists to document that gap — through public records, data analysis, and the accounts of patients whose complaints were dismissed without explanation.
